This is my Mother, Sandy Appleby (circa 1945). She's the next to youngest of seven children, and was born and raised on a farm in Lexington, Ohio. In this photo she has her whole life in front of her. Who knew she would fall for a boy from Mansfield, Ohio who had just moved to Lexington. They'd Graduate in 1957 and Sandy waited 4 years for him to finish college in Vermont. They would marry in 1961 and start a family 10 months later when I was born. My sister Lynnette came along in '66 and Susan in '69. We moved from Ohio to California, back to Ohio, to Illinois and back to Ohio. As tough as it was to restart the household so many times Mom hung in there...kept the home fires burning and together Mom and Dad raised us kids. We always had a good meal on the table, clean clothes for school, help with homework and after-school activities, a shoulder to cry on, hugs, kisses and prayers...and we thank you Mom for all of that .
We are all grown now in our own homes with great jobs thanks to all that Mom (and Dad) taught us about life, love and responsibility.
There is so much more to the story of Sandy Appleby, but let me just say we are so grateful for the life she makes for all of her children and grandchildren (and great-grandson to be) and the love she shows us all.
Love you, Mom!
