Sony is about to release the first ever "ultra" high-definition television.  It’s a massive 84-inch set that retails for $25,000 – and features nearly four times the resolution of typical high-def TVs.  The TV will come with a video player pre-loaded with several popular Sony films including "Taxi Diver", "The Karate Kid", and "The Amazing Spiderman".  Plus this Man-Cave must-have also comes with a tablet computer, which can be used as a touchscreen remote control.      How big is too big?  The jump from a 32 inch tube-type tv to a 46" flat screen was a life changer at our house.  Not only did the picture quality blow our minds but it took a bit to get use to.  Particularly challenging was late night talk shows.   Even seated at the opposite end of the room from the new tv we had to physically turn our heads from side to side as the host and guest traded comments.  That was too much work for a couch potato like me!  Imagine now stepping up to an 84" screen!  First of all I don't have $25 k to spend on a giant flat screen let alone the clearance from the c-f-o of the house (wife) to spend that kind of dough.  I'd have to take out a second mortgage.  I don't have a wall big enough to display it nor a door way tall enough for me and a team of weight lifters to haul it in.

     Why go that large?  From Oompa-Loompa size to Shaquille O'neil size?  Experts say (or justify) that 25" was fine for standard def, 50" was right for high def...but to fully take advantage of and enjoy the ultra-high-def experience, you've got to go 84".

     I can't rule out ever moving up to that level of technology.  There was a time when I never thought I'd own a vhs or cd player.  But until I win a multi-multi-million dollar Powerball drawing its only a dream.  Even than something like that comes way after debts get paid off much of the jackpot shared with family & friends.
