Taylor Swift carved time out her busy schedule Saturday to lunch with a 17-year-old Kayla Kincannon, who's been battling brain cancer for the last year. Friends, family and numerous supporters took to social media to attract T’s attention in the hopes of scoring a meeting with her on Kayla’s behalf. The campaign worked, and Kayla flew to Tennessee to dine with Taylor and her mom, Andrea.
Kayla’s father Brad writes on his daughter’s blog, “This was no quick meet-and-greet photo opp. We sat and talked to Taylor and her mom for two hours, had lunch and Kayla received a gift basket, then [Taylor] signed pictures! She is the sweetest, most down-to-earth person I have ever met!” Kayla was all a-Twitter too, writing, “Cannot believe I just had lunch with @taylorswift13 today. I was enchanted to meet you!”
Taylor has also surpassed a record that was previously held by Madonna. According to Country Weekly, Taylor has had 57 songs appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her latest track, “The Moment I Knew.” The only woman who's had more is Aretha Franklin, with 73.
